Mass Effect - Joker Moreau and EDI cosplays by Emmalyn Mass Effect - Joker Moreau and EDI cosplays by Emmalyn
Here are our finished EDI and Joker costumes! c: We wore these to Phoenix Comicon, which was great fun; I got to see some old friends and meet new people, and lots of nice folks asked for pictures.

I may make some edits to these before we wear them again (namely to the boot coversómaking some for Joker, and adding some details and Velcro to EDIís to keep them from falling down). Also, EDI needs a gun, don't you think?

Do let me know what you think, and thanks for looking! :D <3

P.S. EDI's head construction/in-progress pics can be found here and here if you're interested.

Awesome costumes! What did you do for the Pants' Overcoat piece?

Thank you! c: I made the overcoat (I assume you mean Joker's leather vest-thing, if not feel free to correct me!) from a thrift store leather jacket, cutting the sides and sleeves off and sewing/gluing the seams and layers together. Same for Joker's shorts, except I used some real desert camo pants for the base and cut up some more thrift store black jeans for the top part. On the black denim, I sewed bias tape around the edges, as well as sewing buckles and nylon webbing to hold them on. (The cargo pockets are fake, but made from the same material.)

Hope this helps a bit, and feel free to ask if you have any more questions! :D

You're very welcome! c: Oh, and I forgot to mention -- I used craft foam in the shoulder area underneath the leather, too. I just glued the leather to the foam and wrapped the edges around for a finished look. This is the glue I used, and I just clamped the edges with clothespins while I waited for them to dry. ;D

Hey this is sweet. I have some questions if that's cool, i'm making a joker cosplay and i was just wondering how you broke down the elements of his outfit? Like which bits are separate in the vest? Does that make sense? haha Also did you make the hat because it's awesome!

Sorry for the late response, but I'm always happy to answer questions! c: Joker's vest is actually more than 50 parts; each layer is a small piece of leather sewn or glued/bonded to the layer before. The "sleeves" are sewn to the body of the jacket, and the front and back of the jacket are sewn to the collar (because I used a leather jacket as a base), but everything else is glued. Leather glue is seriously awesome! :3

For WIP pictures of the vest, check my Fanworks page (on Tumblr) here: [link]

And yep, I made the hat! Pics are here: [link] (long story short, I bought a mostly-blue hat and fabric-painted the rest of it navy blue, then used a stencil and some metallic fabric paint for the design. A fine brush, a toothpick, and some good acrylic paints--with fabric medium, of course--were the only materials I used...other than the hat, hehe.)

Thanks so much for the kind words and compliments! And do let me know if you have more questions. I will answer Tumblr Asks (you can send them anonymously if you don't have a Tumblr username) more quickly, though, because they forward to my email. Hope this helps a bit. c:

SQUEEE!!! I just love it when I find cosplayer's from comic-con on deviant art! ((I was commander Shepard on Sunday!)) The bag though... full of win that is, and very fitting for Joker to be totting around IMO.

What an excellent work on EDI, maybe it would be more resemblant with a grey lipstick (guess it's hard to find), Joker's hat is also great, i can't remember the camo pants but I like the idea

Thanks very much! And yes, I definitely plan to get some charcoal gray or black lipstick for next time. I went out to buy some the week before the convention and all the costume stores in the area were sold out (and only one had some gray face paint left). Couldn't figure out why, but then it hit me. Homestuck trolls have gray faces and black lips. XD

Yeah, the default fatigues in ME3 have the soldiers wearing those funny short chaps over kind of urban-camouflage-patterned pants--I thought it might be cool to go out and get real ACUs to go with this outfit, so these pants are just the normal military-issue (universal/non-multicam) pattern. But thanks! c:

ooh if you need a charcoal silvery lipstick, i cant recommend Morgana Cryptoria's lipsticks high enough.(I use her blues for Liara) She does a few -

I know she had more shades and might still have some hidden away, She is great to contact to ask if you are looking for a certain grey.
