Rainbow Dash cosplay - Spunky by Emmalyn Rainbow Dash cosplay - Spunky by Emmalyn
This costume is for the Ponygeist Phoenix Brony Meetup costume contest/Halloween this year! It was a lot of fun to make. :D

The cutie marks (on the shirt and shoes) were painted with fabric paint, the rainbow trim was hand-sewed on, the wig and tail were made/styled with Kanekalon wefts, and the wings are wire, craft foam, and yet more paint (2 bottles of acrylics + fabric medium). Do let me know what you think! ♥

P.S. This unexpectedly made it onto the Equestria Daily nightly roundup post! Thanks to the lovely anonymous submitter. :iconrdsoawesomeplz:

Thank you! And I made them, from craft foam, hot glue, aluminum floral wire, and fabric paint. Cost me about $10 total. :D

Here are some pics of the in-progress stuff, if you're curious: [link]

It's how much I love rainbows. You'd almost think I was gay, but I'm not. You'd be surprised how fast I can like a girl just because she has colored hair. Also, one of the best Rainbow Dash's I've seen. :)

I seriously love rainbows too! They're cheerful and fun, and one of the main reasons I change my (real) hair color about every month or so. (It makes things interesting, haha.)

And thanks for the compliment! :D

Nope, none yet. I might add them eventually, but for now, they'd just get lost in the wig... ;)

If I weren't a guy I'd wear this every day of my entire life. One of the only things off is the tail, Needs to be a bit bigger, but I don't know how you would do that. Good job

Haha, a high compliment indeed; thanks!

And YES, I know what you mean, argh. I tried spiking the tail a bit, or poofing it after I straightened and combed the Kanekalon, but it became horribly staticky. I eventually gave up, since I knew I'd be sitting on it and squooshing it anyway. ;P

Oops, sorry, now I realized you asked about the tail, not the wings. XD *derp*

Anyway, I made the tail using Kanekalon hair, which is sold online and in some beauty stores in these big wefts--long, loose bundles--called Jumbo Braids (see here: [link]). I just got one weft of each rainbow color, separated out a little bit of hair, and carefully sewed/glued each color to a small hair clip (like these: [link]). Here's a couple pics of the wig, and tail (I glued the rainbow ribbon on top for stability and to hide the messy glue): [link]

Hope this helped a bit! :D

The wig is a modified one from the Internet (heat guns and hot glue work wonders), and I made the wings! :D Here are some progress pics (from my Tumblr) if you're curious: [link]

Hehe, it's a wig. I bought an inexpensive rainbow wig, used hot water and heat on the hair (VERY carefully) to style it, and added a bit more body/color to it with wefts of Kanekalon (plastic fiber) hair. The tail's made with styled Kanekalon fibers too. Thanks for the compliment! :D
